Megan goes bushwhacking

As a company who’s majority clientele live and work in very remote, isolated and often wilderness type environments we have to ensure that all our staff have a good frame of reference to this unique type of environment.

One of our new incident managers, Megan Price has a great deal of experience in the mining environment and medical industry however none within the lodge/ bush environment. Indaba 2013

Simon King and Malora Zeller attended Indaba which was held at the Durban ICC between the 11th-14th of May.

This well known trade show brings together organisations, business’s and entrepreneurs from across Africa who share a love for the wilderness, conservation and the hospitality industry on the continent.

For Blackplan it’s a great time to touch base with many of our existing clients!

Mining Indaba 4-7th February 2013

Our MD, Simon King and GM, Nash Arnachellam will be attending the Mining Indaba which will be held in Cape Town this year between the 4th and the 7th of February. The mining industry has for many years been ahead of the game in terms of incident preparedness on remote sites. Crisis Communication & Social Media Workshop 2012

We recently attended the workshop on crisis communication and social media held at the Indaba Hotel Conference Centre in Fourways, Johannesburg between the 1st and 2nd October.

The course looked at the implementation of communication plans which included social media response to use in different types of crisis.

Themes included:

Crisis communication planning
Identifying key crisis-specific messages
Communicating with staff
Communication with the media
Communicating with consumers and other external stakeholders
Using social media
Recent case studies and practical exercises
